Sweet Treats in the CLE

By Angela Manella

Summer is the perfect time to satisfy your sweet tooth, and Cleveland has some great homegrown options to choose from.  Did you know that Pierre’s Icecream opened its doors at Euclid and East 82nd in 1932?

Within a few miles of the Convention Center, you’ll find a world of options.  Across the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge in Foodie-friendly Ohio City, you’ll find Mitchell’s Ice Cream parlor and production kitchen, popcorn and fudge at Campbell’s Sweets Factory, Piccadilly Artisan Yogurt (vegan friendly!), and a variety of tasty baked goods at the West Side Market.

Tremont might be best known for fine dining, but it’s also home to plenty of dessert options. Stop in at Tremont Scoops and Churned for some ice cream.  If a pastry is calling your name, try Cookie and A Cupcake or Sweet Mosaic pastries in Lucky’s Cafe. Or visit Lily’s Handmade Chocolates for a decadent pairing of chocolate truffles and craft beer or wine.

For more sweet treats, check out CityVoter’s 2015 Hot List of Best Cleveland Ice Cream Shops and Scene Magazine’s Brief History of Cold Treats in Cleveland.

Looking for a quick sugar fix between sessions?  Colossal Cupcakes is a quick 10 minute walk from the Convention Center in the historical 5th Street Arcades.

By the time you leave, we hope you’ll be as sweet on Cleveland as we are!
